Decolonizing the Music Room

Although it has receded from the news, the effects of the Black Lives Matter movement continue to invite us to come to terms with the racism that lives in our hearts, minds and systems. My husband is an elementary music teacher, and we often have conversations about what music he, as a white man, is choosing to teach his students, who are SE Asian. I found a great resource the other day called, Decolonizing the Music Room. This organization raises awareness about the contributions of music from non-dominant cultures, and has a great resources page with stories and podcasts. Some surprising and really interesting information here.
